ETM Collaborates with the Stamford Symphony on Student Concert

As part of an ongoing collaboration with the Stamford Symphony, ETM has developed materials designed to bring together the Stamford Symphony and the teachers and students of the Stamford School district in a way that integrates across the curriculum. The "American Experience" concert on April 10 was an opportunity to do that.
The Stamford Symphony developed a concert program targeted at 4th and 5th graders whose theme was centered around the beginning of our nation. Repertoire included such favorites as Yankee Doodle, Ol' Man River, and Simple Gifts, among others. Prior to the concert, the music teachers were given a "Teacher Resource Box" that contained materials designed by ETM to prepare students for this concert experience. This included a CD, lesson plan ideas, composer biographies, listening maps, and informational handouts. The materials were received with great enthusiasm by the music teachers who then used them in the next four lessons to prepare their students for the concert. The event was a great success and enjoyed by all in attendance.
